Ed
Nieuwesteeg:
Ed was born and raised in Niagara Falls and is
one of nine children. Ed attended St. Patrick Elementary School,
Vanier, Notre Dame College in Welland and graduated with an honours
degree in Business and Political Science from Wilfred Laurier
University in 1982. After his marriage to Ruth-Ann Patterson,
he returned to school attending Humber College and graduated in
1991 as a Licensed Funeral Director. At Humber, Ed received a
number of awards. They included Best Overall Student, Wilfred
Scott Humanitarian Award, a President's letter for the highest
academic standing and the Anatomy award. Ed has been an active
community volunteer for many years with the Jaycees, the Big Brother
Association, Board Director for Community Living and Board Chair
for YMCA for over ten years. He is a member of the Knights of
Columbus, Hennepin Council and a Lector at St. Thomas More Church.
Ed is a three term elected trustee for Niagara Catholic District
School Board and has been instrumental in the development of the
new Saint Michael's High School and the new west end Niagara Falls
elementary school. Ed spends many hours in hockey arenas watching
his son Ryan play travel hockey and loves to spend story time
with his daughter Alexandra.
Ruth-Ann

Ruth-Ann
Nieuwesteeg:
Ruth-Ann is the great granddaughter of the late
J. J. Patterson and is the fourth generation dedicated to funeral
service. She attended Stamford CVI. In 1985 she graduated with
first class honours from Brock University with an Honours Degree,
majoring in Management and Marketing. During her University years,
Ruth-Ann held numerous positions with the Brock University Student
Union - her last position being Vice President. After graduating,
Ruth-Ann continued her studies at the Universite de Besancon in
France. Before coming home to Funeral Service, Ruth-Ann spent
12 years working in Educational Publishing in Toronto in senior
management. In 1998, she joined her husband Ed in the family business.
Ruth-Ann is an active volunteer in the community. She has taught
children's liturgy at St. Thomas More Church, has organized the
Knights of Columbus Children's Christmas parties, served as chairperson
for Father Hennepin School Council and past member for the Regional
School Council for the Niagara Catholic District School Board.
She is in her fifth year as a member of the Board of Directors
for Family and Children's Services and currently a member of the
City of Niagara Falls Park in the City Committee.
Ruth Ann enjoys listening to her daughter Alexandra play the piano
and enjoys Saturday mornings at either the basketball or soccer
games with her son Ryan.
Debi
Langford:
Born
and raised in Niagara Falls, Debi has been with Patterson Funeral
Home for five years assisting in the personalization of funerals
and administrative work for the Funeral Home. Debi lives in Chippawa
with her husband Ken and their two children, Scott and Megan. She
is a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Womens League and is past
president of the St. Michaels High School family. Debi's husband
is a member of the Chippawa Lions.
Eugene
OLaughlin:
Eugene
has been on staff as a Funeral Director Assistant for seven years.
He was born and raised in Niagara Falls. Eugenes duties
range in scope. If he isnt busy assisting with a funeral
service, you will find him engaged with a host of gardening tasks.
It is through Eugenes efforts that Patterson has won the
Trillium award for many years.
Peter
Stirpe:
Peter
has been a Funeral Director Assistant at Patterson Funeral home
for four years after retiring from a managerial position with
General Motors. Peter has spent most of his life in Niagara Falls.
He is married to Vicki and has two daughters, one son and three
grandchildren. Peter is a very active volunteer. He is a member
of the Holy Name Society, St. Vincent de Paul Society, a Knights
of Columbus member, a lector at Our Lady of the Scapular Church
and was a recent recipient of the Bishops Award and chosen for
the Pope John Paul II Jubilee Award.
Adaline
Robbins:
Adaline
helps out as a part time receptionist . She retired from Brian
Cullen motors where she worked as a controller for over thirty
years. She is an active volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society.
Adaline lives in Niagara Falls with her husband Bill.
Aileen
Lelievre:
We
got to know Aileen when we took care of the funeral arrangements
for her late husband Bobby. Although she is employed full time
with Shoppers Drug Mart, she works at the Funeral Home as a part
time receptionist. Aileen has been with us for four years. She
has three children and eight grandchildren. She is a Eucharistic
Minister at St. Patricks Church in Niagara Falls.
Shirley
Wall:
Shirley
is a part time receptionist and seamstress for Patterson Funeral
Home. Many people recognize Shirley from her earlier days spent
working at Ohio Brass and Bette Lyn Fashions. Shirley lives in
Niagara Falls where she raised her five children and she is a
devout member of St. Andrew United Church.
